Two innovative processes developed by Sinochem International have been selected for inclusion in the Green and Low-Carbon Petrochemical Processes Directory 2024. The hydrogen peroxide-based epichlorohydrin production process and the caprolactam-based hexamethylenediamine production process were among the chosen technologies. This selection increases Sinochem International’s total to eight recognized green low-carbon processes.
The hydrogen peroxide-based epichlorohydrin process uses chloropropene and hydrogen peroxide as raw materials. It features a single-step reaction with a catalyst, offering a streamlined process, mild reaction conditions, and enhanced environmental sustainability.
The caprolactam-based hexamethylenediamine process represents a significant innovation by bypassing the adiponitrile stage, which has traditionally been a key step in the production of hexamethylenediamine. This breakthrough is expected to drive forward the development of the nylon 66 industry, boosting China’s self-reliance and security in this critical industrial supply chain.
