In recent years Sinochem International has laid the groundwork for materials science core business, proactively expanding into the industry of lithium battery materials, while developing a lithium battery recycling business by way of key technology links in the production chain. To better support the development of Sinochem’s lithium battery materials production chain in China, we have appropriately fostered our own lithium battery business, exploring solutions in both lithium power and storage batteries, as well as combined new energy solutions of the future.

For lithium battery materials, Sinochem International aims to establish itself as a global player in the production of Ni-rich ternary cathode material. Our R&D facilities in Zhongwei, Ningxia Province, and Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, have progressed from test pilot to medium scale, to a full-scale engineering platform, using innovative technologies to drive change in the industry. In Zhongwei, Ninxia, we have established facilities for the production of lithium battery materials, with annual capacity of 1,500 tons (Phase I) and 8,500 tons(Phase II) of Ni-rich NCM cathodes. Our plants are already running at full capacity, supplying products to China’s leading enterprises of power and digital battery

The company has invested approximately RMB 6.6 billion in a 66.67 hectare lithium battery industrial park in Zhongwei, Ningxia. The first phase involves a 1,500t project that started construction on July 26, 2017. In March 2018, the facility commissioning was completed and fully automatic operation was realized. The second phase was an 8,500t project that started construction in August 2018 that had a total of five production lines. In October 2019, the 10,000 t/a capacity fully came to fruition.
